Head Coffee Roaster (Full-time, Noosa)

About The Role:

This is more than just a job - it’s an opportunity to roast exceptional coffee in one of Australia’s most beautiful coastal towns! We’re looking for a Head Roaster to lead roasting operations at our Noosa roastery. This full-time, hands-on role involves overseeing daily production, maintaining quality control standards, and managing warehouse operations. If you're a skilled roaster with technical expertise and a passion for specialty coffee, we want to hear from you!

What You'll Bring:

A strong background in specialty coffee roasting and production.
The ability to work independently, while thriving in a team environment.
A passion for producing consistent, high-quality coffee.
Great organisational and communication skills.
Experience leading small teams or a desire to grow into a leadership role.
A love of learning and a willingness to help others grow too.

Key Responsibilities:

Roast and cup espresso blends and single origin coffees.
Maintain consistent roast profiles and uphold quality standards.
Oversee warehouse operations and production scheduling.
Manage wholesale dispatch logistics.
Collaborate with the team on green buying, seasonal releases, and blend development.
Maintain roasting and production equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.
Contribute to staff training, education, and professional development.
Represent First Batch Coffee with integrity and enthusiasm.

Essential Skills and Experience:

Proven experience in coffee roasting (ideally in a lead or production capacity).
Solid understanding of green coffee, roast profiling, and quality control (HACCP knowledge a plus).
Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
High attention to detail and accountability.
A valid driver’s license.

Desirable (But not Mandatory):

Experience managing teams or leading production environments.
Technical knowledge of roasting equipment and maintenance.
Warehousing or logistics experience.
Barista or customer-facing specialty coffee experience.

Barista (Permanent Part-time, Noosa – 30 hrs per week)

We’re also on the lookout for an experienced barista to join our team. This is a permanent part-time role (30 hours per week), perfect for someone who wants to grow their career in coffee. There’s a clear pathway to progress into roastery operations for the right person.
