A New Chapter in Coffee Craftsmanship: Meet Our Single Origin Guatemala
Every cup of coffee tells a story, and with our latest Single Origin release from Guatemala, we're proud to bring you a narrative steeped in high-altitude heritage, careful cultivation, and a flavour profile that's as vidi as the landscapes it hails from.

Award-Winning Excellence
We're thrilled to share that our Single Origin Guatemala recently took home three Bronze Awards at the Royal Tasmania Fine Food Awards – a testament to the quality, care, and craft that goes into every roast.
From Huehuetenango with Heart
Our Guatemala single origin comes from La Libertad, Huehuetenango - a region renowned for its coffee-growing process. Sitting high in the Cuchumatanes mountains, the farm's elevation, cool climate, and mineral-rich soil provide ideal conditions for slow bean maturation, resulting in a cup that's complex, balanced, and unmistakably clean.
Tasting Notes:
- Winey and sweet.
- Intense tropical fruits.
- Well-balanced and rounded.
Each sip reflects the meticulous processing methods and generations of knowledge behind its cultivation.
"We look for producers who are not only growing exceptional coffee, but who share our passion for quality and sustainability. This Guatemala single origin is the perfect fit." - First Batch Roasting Team.
The Art Behind The Brew
At First Batch, the launch of a new single origin isn't just about introducing a new flavour - it's a celebration of process.
Our team cupped dozens of samples from the Huehuetenango region, selecting this lot for its clarity, sweetness, and structure. Once selected, we developed a roast profile that enhances the bean's complexity while maintaining its delicate acidity.
Crop to Cup: Why Origin Matters
Understanding where your coffee comes from enriches the experience of drinking it. In Guatemala, many farms are family-run, with harvesting done by hand and traditional methods still in practice.
Why Huehuetenango?
- One of the few regions in Guatemala where coffee can be frown without frost risk.
- High elevation contributes to denser beans and brighter cup profiles.
- A long dry season means better sun-drying of beans, enhancing clarity and shelf life.
We source from producers whoa re committed to ethical farming practices, ensuring a sustainable livelihood for growers and traceability for you.
Brewing Tips from Our Baristas
To bring out the best in our Single Origin Guatemala, our baristas have a few brew tips:
For Filter:
- Fresh is best - make sure you are brewing within 7 to 25 days. This particular coffee is amazing around the 12 to 16 day mark.
- Grind fresh! Avoid pre-grounding your coffee to ensure no stale qualities.
- If you are using a paper filter, make sure to "pre-wet" the paper. This will help remove any "papery" taste and also improve the brewing process.
- V60 - 12grams of coffee to 200ml filtered water at 96 degrees C.
For Espresso:
- This coffee is amazing with a brew ratio of approx. 1:1.75. We use 22grams of coffee in 38grams of coffee out.
- Again, always grind fresh.
- Brewing temperature of 93-94 degrees C.
